Due to the redesignation, more than 100 Somali nationals who arrived after May 1st, 2021, can now enroll in TPS while the extension of TPS for Somalia allows approximately 447 current beneficiaries to retain TPS. This extension and re-designation will be in effect from September 18, 2021, through March 17, 2023.
“We welcome the Biden administration’s commitment to a humanitarian immigration system by protecting Somalis TPS holders in the U.S. by granting them maximum TPS protection,” said CAIR-MN Executive Director Jaylani Hussein. “Redesignation now allows for the first time since 2012 additional eligible Somalis to apply for TPS and employment.”
Hussein also calls for the Administration to make pathways for citizenship for TPS holders.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
