(WASHINGTON D.C., 12/2/2021) – On Saturday, December 4, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, will hold its 27th annual gala featuring an address by Islamic scholar and civil rights leader Dr. Omar Suleiman.
Sheikh Suleiman is founder and president of the Yaqeen Institute for Islamic Research, and an Adjunct Professor of Islamic Studies in the Graduate Liberal Studies Program at SMU (Southern Methodist University). He is also the resident scholar at Valley Ranch Islamic Center and Co-Chair Emeritus of Faith Forward Dallas at Thanks-Giving Square.
The virtual gala’s theme, “Turning the Tide, Building a Just Future,” highlights CAIR’s positive impact on the civil rights of all Americans over the last 27 years and the organization’s shared vision for social justice.
“As the state of politics and COVID-19 shift from one day to the next, CAIR invites you to celebrate how far we’ve come as a community and to imagine how much further we can go together,” said CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad.
