Anti-Muslim Extremist: Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN)

Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) is an anti-Muslim extremist. Ogles is a member of the so-called “Sharia-Free America Caucus,” a group of U.S. representatives who support extremist legislation that would, if enacted, essentially ban the practice of Islam in the United States. CAIR previously designated the caucus an anti-Muslim extremist organization.

Ogles believes pluralism is a lie, an apparent call to limit American democracy to a narrow group of people who conform with Ogles’ political opinions, choices of faith, and places of origin.

Calling Islam a religion of violence, Ogles seeks to paint the adherents of the world’s second largest faith, including entire Muslim majority nations that help protect our national interests, as an inherent and urgent threat.

Islam is an American faith that has been present since the colonial-era when large numbers of Muslims were imported as slave labor, without any individual liberty or freedom of religion. Ogles denies this documented history and presence claiming “Islam is not American.” Ogles, instead, apparently favors a mass expulsion of Muslims from the United States saying Muslims do not belong and have no place in American society and that Muslims should be deported before they “destroy us.” Ogles called for a Muslim candidate for public office to be stripped of his citizenship and deported for no other reason than being Muslim.

On March 9, 2026, Rep. Ogles posted the following to his X (formerly Twitter account), “Muslims don’t belong in American society. Pluralism is a lie.” Archive.

A “Sharia-Free America Caucus” graphic shared by Rep. Keith Self features Rep. Andy Ogles saying, “Islam is a religion of violence, abuse of women, and ruthless political conquest. Its laws and practices have no place in American society. That’s why I joined the Sharia Free American [sic] Caucus. Islam is conquering Europe, and I refuse to let it conquer America.”

In a post to X (formerly Twitter) on Feb. 17, 2026, Rep. Ogles wrote, “No more public displays of Islam please. It is not American.” Archive

In June 2025, Ogles wrote to U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi and demanded that the federal government pursue denaturalization proceedings against New York Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani, then running for the office of New York Mayor. In a social media post announcing the letter, Ogles alleged that “Zohran ‘little muhammad’ Mamdani”…”will destroy the great City of New York. He needs to be DEPORTED.” Archive.

In a U.S. House resolution calling for Ogles’ censure, Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-MI) writes, “…on June 26, 2025, after the victory of Zohran Mamdani in the first round of the New York City Democratic mayoral primary election, Representative Andrew Ogles used his official accounts on the social media platforms X and Instagram to publicly insult and demean Mr. Mamdani in a racist, Islamophobic, and anti-immigrant post, by calling Mr. Mamdani ‘little muhammad’ and calling for Mr. Mamdani to be ‘DEPORTED’ and ‘subject to denaturalization proceedings.’”

Thanedar continues, “on June 26, 2025, Representative Andrew Ogles used his official account on the social media platform X to post a video of Mr. Mamdani with the caption, “DEPORT little muhammad!”; and…on June 26, 2025, Representative Andrew Ogles used his official accounts on the social media platforms X and Instagram to post an image of himself and Mr. Mamdani that contains the word “DEPORT” and is accompanied by the caption, “Bye bye, little muhammad!”
