On June 6, the Imam of Khalid Binu Walid Mosque was reportedly attacked at the mosque by someone who was apparently mentally ill. The imam was attacked with a knife and sustained injures, while the alleged preparator was apprehended.

Today community leaders are gathering to support the imam, condemn the attack and call for more support for mental health services for community members.
