CAIR Releases New Anti-Bullying Guide for Muslim Students and Families for National Bullying Prevention Month (Oct.)

(WASHINGTON, D.C., 9/29/23) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today released a new guide for Muslim students and families in support of National Bullying Prevention Month in October. The guide contains practical advice for both students experiencing bullying and their families. It also references work conducted by PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center and the Institute for Social Policy and Understanding.

CAIR’s guide states in part:

“According to a 2021 study by CAIR-CA, more than 50% of all respondents reported feeling unsafe, unwelcome, or uncomfortable at school because of their Muslim identity.”

“In honor of National Bullying Prevention Month this October, CAIR is releasing the following guide to support Muslim youth in navigating and responding to instances of bullying that they may experience as well as to advise families as to what they can do to help.”

It addresses such questions as: “I Think I’m Being Bullied. What Can I Do?” and “I Think My Child Is Being Bullied. What Can I Do?”

The guide follows recent work conducted by CAIR to share information on Islamic religious practices with educators in order to continue advancing the goal of supporting Muslim youth in schools.
