In a statement, CAIR-AZ Executive Director Azza Abuseif said:

CAIR-Arizona strongly condemns Professor Jonathan Yudelman’s alleged harassment of an American Muslim woman near a pro-Israel demonstration. We call on Arizona State University to terminate his employment if these allegations are verified, and we call on law enforcement to investigate and file any appropriate criminal charges.

“Sadly, the disgusting and dangerous behavior captured on camera is not an isolated incident, but part of a broader pattern of Islamophobia and religious intolerance weaponized by pro-Israel, pro-genocide extremists. Such behavior is not only discriminatory but also violates the fundamental principles of academic integrity and respect for diversity that professors should uphold inside and outside of the classroom.

“ASU must take swift and decisive action to address this matter. So must local law enforcement.”

CAIR-AZ calls upon the ASU administration to conduct a thorough investigation into this incident, hold the responsible parties accountable, and implement measures to prevent such occurrences in the future. It is imperative that educational institutions uphold principles of diversity, inclusion, and respect for all members of their community.

We urge community members to report incidents to ASU.
