The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today said newly-released video of Israeli soldiers burning a Quran and a library in Gaza are further proof of Israel’s ongoing genocide in targeting the Palestinian people.
Israel has destroyed thousands of mosque, churches and academic institutions in Gaza. More than 35,000 Gazans, mostly women and children have been slaughtered by Israel.
In a statement, CAIR National Deputy Director Edward Ahmed Mitchell said:
“By bombing mosques, churches, schools, hospitals, journalists, marketplaces, and even cemeteries, the openly racist Israeli government trumpets its genocidal intent on a daily basis. It is time for the international community – including our own nation – to stand up to the Israeli government and end its genocide.”
Earlier this year, CAIR said video of an Israeli soldier tearing up a Quran in a destroyed Gaza mosque “shows the true face of the genocide against the Palestinian people.”
Yesterday, CAIR welcomed the recognition of the state of Palestine by Norway, Ireland and Spain, and called on the Biden administration to stop blocking that nation’s full United Nations membership. CAIR also said that federal laws which would penalize international bodies for recognizing Palestine must be rejected and repealed.
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
