The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed a call by Senate Finance Committee Chair Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) for BMW to provide answers on about its use of parts made by a banned Chinese supplier suspected of using Uyghur forced labor.
“The United States considers the Chinese government’s brutal oppression of Uyghurs in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region an ‘ongoing genocide and crimes against humanity,’” Wyden wrote in his letter today. “The Committee is continuing to investigate several aspects of BMW’s exposure to forced labor through JWD, its tier 3 supplier.”

Uyghur forced labour: Senate panel widens BMW China parts probe
“We thank Senator Wyden and the Finance Committee for demanding answers on the possible use of Uyghur slave labor by BMW,” said CAIR Research and Advocacy Director Corey Saylor. “Any corporation that profits off of the Chinese Communist Party’s system of genocidal oppression of Uyghur Muslims has no right to do business in America.”
He noted that in March, CAIR condemned comments by a Chinese Communist Party official who stated that the “sinicization” of Islam in Xinjiang Province is “inevitable.”
