The Maryland office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned the reported racist vandalism found on Angela Alsobrooks’ campaign sign in Prince George’s County.
The defacing of the campaign sign included the letters “KKK” written on the bottom of the sign and a crosshair symbol drawn on her forehead. The crosshair symbolizes a target, and the three letters are known to reference the white supremacist hate group, the Ku Klux Klan.

“Racially-motivated vandalism has no place in a civilized society. We stand in solidarity with all those facing bigotry and hatred and reaffirm our commitment to challenging it wherever it surfaces,” said CAIR’s Maryland Outreach Coordinator Kim Syuardi.
He added that CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
*As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, CAIR does not endorse or oppose any candidate running for office.
CAIR is America’s largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance understanding of Islam, protect civil rights, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
