CAIR: Morgantown Students Granted Prayer Space – WV Public Broadcasting
Nicole Fauster-Bradford is the advocacy director at the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR). She and her organization were asked by students and community leaders to intervene after a year of limited response from the school and county.
Fauster-Bradford said students provided names of teachers who were willing to let them use their classrooms, as well as other spaces in the school.
“The students really just want to make sure that what they are doing is appropriate,” she said. “This is 20 minutes max on a Friday, that’s during a lunch period where there’s dozens of empty classrooms.”
CAIR: The Muslim American vote matters and it can no longer be taken for granted – Al Jazeera
The Muslim community’s mobilisation on Palestine has come at a heavy cost for many. The Council on American Islamic Relations reported an unprecedented spike in incidents of bias: a 56 percent increase in reports of Islamophobia in 2023. Anti-Palestinian racism has also skyrocketed, a worrying trend reflected in the shooting of three Palestinian students in Vermont who were wearing the keffiyeh scarf. Thousands – many of them Muslim students – were arrested at campus protests, and many were threatened with expulsion or faced criminal charges for their pro-Palestinian activism at colleges and universities across the US.
CAIR-LA: On cusp of school year, UCLA buckles down on safety, encampment ban – Orange County Register
The Greater Los Angeles Area office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-LA) questioned Judge Scarsi’s ruling, saying in a statement that it “perpetuates the false narrative that the university’s anti-genocide student encampment was antisemitic.”
Legal director Amr Shabaik said the injunction “fails to consider the realities of the encampment … and the attacks that the encampment had to endure and protect itself against.” UCLA Jewish students and faculty were participants, along with Muslim, Arab and Palestinian students, Shabaik said, noting that a peaceful and “well-documented” Passover Seder was observed inside.

Monday’s shooting is the latest crime affecting mosque worshipers in Minnesota. Jaylani Hussein, executive director for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) in Minnesota, said the state is the only in the nation to record nearly half a dozen attacks against mosques this year. Days before the Aug. 19 shooting, the Dar Al-Qalam mosque in Minneapolis received more than a dozen threatening calls.
