The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned the distribution of white supremacist and racist propaganda in Indiana and Virginia.
Several Indiana communities were targeted with racist, anti-immigrant flyers stating, “Leave now, avoid deportation.”
In Virginia’s Henrico County, the white supremacist group Patriot Front posted propaganda on light poles outside the North Park Branch of the Henrico County Public Library.
“All Americans, and particularly our nation’s leaders, have a duty to push back against the promotion of hate-filled ideologies we are witnessing nationwide,” said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper. “Minority communities feel increasingly vulnerable to the discrimination, and even violence, which inevitably results from such bigotry.”
He noted that yesterday, CAIR’s Pittsburgh chapter condemned the distribution of antisemitic neo-Nazi propaganda in Squirrel Hill and Downtown.
Washington, D.C., based CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
