The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned the Israeli ethnic cleansing of a part of Syria its forces recently invaded.
In Syria’s Quneitra governorate, Israeli forces have damaged streets, cut down the trees, destroyed electricity poles, and demanded that residents leave. When they refused to leave, the Israeli forces destroyed water supply networks and power lines in an attempt to make the area unlivable, as has been done in Gaza.
CAIR recently condemned Israel’s invasion and bombing of Syria.
Indicted Israeli war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu also announced plans to expand illegal settlements in occupied Syrian territory.
In a statement, CAIR said:
“The criminal Israeli government’s war of ethnic cleansing in Gaza has now spread to occupied Syrian territory, where Netanyahu’s fighters are destroying water networks and electrical towers to force Syrians out of their homes. The Biden administration must stop enabling this radical regime’s campaign of chaos, killing and destruction. Syrians must be able to rebuild their nation, free from Israeli occupation.”
Earlier this month, CAIR said the Biden administration must end arms shipments to Israel after a new report by Amnesty International, titled “You Feel Like You Are Subhuman’: Israel’s Genocide Against Palestinians in Gaza,” concludes that Israel has committed – and still is committing – genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.
Israel has slaughtered almost 45,000 people in Gaza, mostly women and children, and has destroyed the civilian infrastructure and forcibly displaced the vast majority of the population, which now faces forced starvation as an Israeli tactic of ethnic cleansing.
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
