On Wednesday, Feb. 19, the San Francisco Bay Area office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-SFBA) will hold a press conference to announce CAIR’s official designation of Stanford University as a hostile campus due to its ongoing suppression of Palestinian advocacy, crackdown on student protests and retaliation against faculty addressing Palestinian human rights.
Despite its stated commitment to free speech and academic freedom, Stanford has repeatedly penalized students for speaking out on Palestine, including arrests, suspensions, and policy changes restricting demonstrations. These actions have had a chilling effect on campus activism and created an environment of fear and intimidation for those advocating against Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza.
CAIR-SFBA will discuss Stanford’s designation, and impacted students will speak about their experiences.
