The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today called on the Trump administration to “rein in the Israeli government’s state terrorism” after Israel bombed an area next to the presidential palace in Damascus and allegedly launched a drone attack on a ship carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza in in international waters off Malta.
Gaza is entering its third month under a total Israeli blockade of food and other humanitarian supplies, which Amnesty International today called “genocide in action.”
In a statement, CAIR said:
“Genocide in Gaza was apparently not enough for the Israeli government, which is now committing acts of state terrorism on a global scale. From bombing a humanitarian aid flotilla in international waters to bombing Damascus near the Syrian presidential palace, the war criminals of the Israeli government are completely out of control.
“The Netanyahu regime could not commit these crimes without American military, financial and diplomatic support. We call on President Trump to rein in the Israeli government’s state terrorism, force Netanyahu to end the genocide in Gaza, and demand that he leave Syria alone before our nation is entangled in a new, all-out regional war.”
Last week, CAIR welcomed the start of hearing before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) about Israel’s genocidal campaign of forced starvation in Gaza and the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.
