CAIR Condemns Vandalism Targeting Church in South Dakota

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned vandalism targeting the Mitchell Congregational United Church of Christ in Mitchell, South Dakota.

The church was vandalized with derogatory graffiti over the weekend, the third such incident in recent years.

“No church or any other house of worship should be targeted by acts of bigotry and intimidation,” said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper. “We condemn the defacing of this church and hope law enforcement quickly identifies and apprehends those responsible.”

He noted that CAIR offers advice on keeping religious facilities safe in its  “Best Practices for Mosque and Community Safety” booklet.
