The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today responded to a poll showing an increase in the American public’s support for Palestinians and an all-time low in public support for Israel.

A Quinnipiac University poll has found that 37 percent of US voters say their sympathies lie more with Israelis than with Palestinians, compared with 32 percent who say the opposite. This is an all-time low in public support for Israel and an all-time high in public support for Palestine since the poll was first conducted in 2021. Sixty-four percent of Republican voters said their sympathies lie with Israelis compared with 7 percent who said their sympathies lie with Palestinians. Among Democrats, only 12 percent said their sympathies lie with Israelis, while 60 percent said they lie with Palestinians.
A Leger poll conducted in Canada found that nearly half of Canadians believe Israel is committing genocide in Gaza almost two years after the current conflict began.
In a statement, CAIR National Communications Manager Ismail Allison said:
“This poll demonstrates the increasing awareness among the American people that the Israeli government is engaged in a genocidal campaign to exterminate the Palestinians. Gone are the days when the American public was limited in its perception of reality. People are now witnessing the daily mass slaughter of men, women and children funded by their own tax dollars, and they are outraged by that killing and its accompanying ethnic cleansing, forced starvation and destruction. Our government must listen to the millions of Americans who demand an end to this genocide.”
