CAIR Condemns Israeli ‘Killing Machine’ for Slaughter of 78 in Gaza as Netanyahu Visits Capitol Hill

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned the Israeli military’s “killing machine” for slaughtering at least 78 people across Gaza by since dawn this morning using American weapons and taxpayer dollars, all while wanted war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu visits Senate leaders on Capitol Hill.

Indiscriminate bombing by the Israeli occupation has been killing some 100 people every day in recent weeks, according to health authorities. Israel has already slaughtered almost 58,000 people – and probably many more whose deaths are not recorded – mostly women and children.

The Israeli government usually escalates mass slaughter in Gaza as ceasefire negotiations progress. Some of those killed today were the victims of an Israeli attack on a tent housing displaced people in Gaza City’s Zeitoun neighborhood, a source at the al-Ahli Hospital said.

Israel’s defense minister has outlined plans to force hundreds of thousands of Palestinians into a “modern-day concentrations camp” in Gaza. It appears to be the latest version of plans by the Israeli government to maintain lasting control over the territory and ethnically-cleanse much of its population.

In a statement, CAIR said:

“In a sane world, the Israeli government’s slaughter of nearly 80 helpless Palestinians in a single day using American weapons would be major news and members of Congress would treat Benjamin Netanyahu like Hannibal Lecter. Instead, Israel’s daily killing machine is largely ignored while Netanyahu, a wanted war criminal, walks freely on Capitol Hill.

“The Israeli government is trying to slaughter as many Palestinians as it can as ceasefire discussions progress and then place those remaining in modern-day concentration camps for reeducation and deportation. The Trump administration must stop enabling this madness.”

He noted that yesterday, CAIR called on the Trump administration and world leaders to reject a reported proposal by the U.S.-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) to build “modern-day concentration camps” in Gaza to detain, reeducate and ultimately deport the Palestinian population of Gaza.
