CAIR Condemns GHF’s Reported Plan for ‘Modern-Day Concentration Camps’ in Gaza

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today called on the Trump administration and world leaders to reject a reported proposal by the U.S.-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) to build “modern-day concentration camps” in Gaza to detain, reeducate and ultimately deport the Palestinian population of Gaza.

CAIR called the proposal a “recipe for ethnic cleansing.” The plan reportedly calls for establishing six camps where Palestinians would “temporarily reside, deradicalize, re-integrate and prepare to relocate if they wish to do so.”

According to Reuters news agency, the $2 billion plan was submitted to the Trump administration and discussed in the White House. Reuters reported that it reviewed a document displaying the GHF logo.

That reported proposal, which GHF now denies it is considering, is in line with new statements by Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz that Israel would build a concentration camp in the Rafah area for at least 600,000 Palestinians that would limit the right of civilians to go in and out of the area.

CAIR also noted a public admission by an Israeli soldier that Palestinians are arbitrarily murdered in Gaza. That Israeli soldier reportedly told Sky News: “We have a territory that we are in, and the commands are: everyone that comes inside needs to die. If they’re inside, they’re dangerous you need to kill them. No matter who it is.”

Another report by the Israeli media outlet Haaretz exposed routine reports of malnutrition, illness, beatings, disease, and death facing Palestinian Prisoners at Israel’s Megiddo Prison.

In a statement, CAIR said:

“We strongly condemn the mercenaries and war criminals behind the so-called Gaza Humanitarian Foundation for this proposal to force Palestinian civilians in Gaza into modern-day concentration camps to face reeducation and deportation from their own homeland.

“Between this sociopathic proposal and the daily massacres of Palestinians seeking aid, it is now beyond clear that the GHF is nothing more than a U.S.-backed arm of the Israeli government’s efforts to ethnically cleanse and kill as many Palestinians as possible.

“The Trump administration must reject any plan or proposal for such reeducation camps, end its support for the GHF, and act to end the Israeli government’s war crimes in Gaza.”

Over the weekend, CAIR demanded that Israeli occupation forces allow baby formula into Gaza to feed children facing malnutrition under Israel’s campaign of forced starvation.

Washington, D.C., based CAIR recently condemned the reported Israeli assassination of yet another Gaza doctor and his family. Mousa Hamdan Khafaja, who worked at Nasser Medical Complex, was reportedly murdered by Israeli forces along with members of his family, including three children.

CAIR also reiterated its call for U.S. and international medical organizations to condemn the Gaza genocide after Israeli forces murdered Marwan al-Sultan, the director of the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza City, and his family.

Last week, CAIR strongly condemned American mercenaries accused of shooting at starving Palestinians in Gaza, called on the Justice Department to investigate and prosecute those responsible, and called on the Trump administration to end U.S. participation in the so-called Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), which has reportedly resulted in the slaughter of hundreds of Palestinians seeking food on a nearly daily basis.
