The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today demanded that Israeli occupation forces allow baby formula into Gaza to feed children facing malnutrition under Israel’s campaign of forced starvation.
The director of field hospitals in Gaza told Al Jazeera that Israel is blocking the entry of baby formula into Gaza. Hundreds of Palestinians have been slaughtered while trying to feed their starving families in Gaza. An American doctor in Gaza has appealed the entry of baby formula.
The Guardian reports: “Stocks of infant formula have dwindled in Gaza as Israel has blocked all but a trickle of aid into the Palestinian territory. Food aid that comes through the controversial US-Israeli-backed private company Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) does not include infant formula, according to doctors.”
According to the UN World Food Program (WFP): “A recent WFP assessment shows nearly one person in three is not eating for days, placing more people at risk of starvation…Malnutrition is surging and some 90,000 children and women urgently need treatment.”
Washington, D.C., based CAIR also condemned the reported Israeli assassination of yet another Gaza doctor and his family. Mousa Hamdan Khafaja, who worked at Nasser Medical Complex, was reportedly murdered by Israeli forces along with members of his family, including three children.
CAIR recently reiterated its call for U.S. and international medical organizations to condemn the Gaza genocide after Israeli forces murdered Marwan al-Sultan, the director of the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza City, and his family.
In a statement, CAIR said:
“The cruel and intentional starvation of Palestinian babies is just one of the many war crimes that Israeli forces commit daily in Gaza with the complicity of our government. These starving children must immediately be provided with the food necessary for their survival.
“Doctors must also be protected from the Israeli campaign of assassination targeting medical personnel and first responders in Gaza. The Gaza genocide must end.”
Last week, strongly condemned American mercenaries accused of shooting at starving Palestinians in Gaza, called on the Justice Department to investigate and prosecute those responsible, and called on the Trump administration to end U.S. participation in the so-called Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), which has reportedly resulted in the slaughter of hundreds of Palestinians seeking food on a nearly daily basis.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
