The Connecticut chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-CT) strongly condemns the recent vandalism of the outdoor menorah at Congregation B’nai Israel in Bridgeport.
On December 24, 2025, a person was recorded on surveillance footage deliberately toppling a large menorah at Congregation B’nai Israel. Police are actively investigating this incident as vandalism and have identified a person of interest.
“These hateful acts targeting any religious symbols or intentionally disrespecting any faith are attacks on the dignity and safety of all faith communities in Connecticut,” said Farhan Memon, Chairman of CAIR-CT. “We stand in solidarity with the Jewish community and call on law enforcement to fully investigate the incident and hold perpetrators accountable. Connecticut must be a place where people of all backgrounds can worship, celebrate, and live without fear.”
He said CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, anti-Muslim hate, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
CAIR-CT’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
La misión de CAIR-CT es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
