CAIR Applauds Sen. Warner’s Senate Speech Condemning Rampant Anti-Muslim and Anti-Arab Hate

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today applauded an address on the Senate floor by Virginia Sen. Mark Warner (D) urging his colleagues to “loudly and resolutely condemn Islamophobia and anti-Arab hate.”

In a statement, CAIR Government Affairs Director Robert McCaw said:

“We applaud Senator Warner for using his platform to unequivocally condemn anti-Muslim and anti-Arab hate at a time when Muslim and Arab communities are facing alarming levels of harassment, discrimination, and violence. Leadership requires moral clarity, and Senator Warner’s remarks send an important message that bigotry has no place in our nation or our politics.

“We call on public officials, community leaders and law enforcement authorities to work together to confront hate, protect vulnerable communities, and uphold the principles of justice and equality for all.”

He added that CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.

Over the weekend, CAIR welcomed the arrest of a suspect in an arson attack that heavily damaged Beth Israel Congregation synagogue in Jackson, Mississippi, which was previously bombed by the Ku Klux Klan in 1967.
