CAIR Calls on Congress to Condemn Israel’s Use of Chemical Weapon Against Lebanese Villages

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today called on all members of Congress to condemn Israel’s reported use of chemical weapons to attack Lebanon.

Lebanese officials say Israeli aircraft sprayed an agricultural herbicide over southern villages. The chemical was reportedly glyphosate, which is used to destroy vegetation.

In a statement, Washington, D.C., based CAIR said:

“The reported use of chemical agents to attack Lebanese villages from aircraft funded by the United States is a grave violation of international humanitarian law and basic human decency. Using chemical weapons in conflict zones is restricted under international law, including conventions designed to protect civilians and prevent environmental warfare.

“Our nation must stop funding Israeli war crimes meant to systematically destroy the ability of people in the region to merely exist on their land. We call on members of Congress, the Trump administration, the United Nations, and relevant international bodies to condemn the Israeli apartheid government’s use of chemical weapons and to hold it accountable for its crimes.”

Yesterday, CAIR condemned Israel’s latest massacre of Palestinians in Gaza, which killed 21 people, including two infants, and to oppose continued U.S. funding for Israeli war crimes amid ongoing ceasefire violations.

TAKE ACTION NOW: SIGN CAIR’S ACTION ALERT!

Over the weekend, CAIR said Israeli attacks in Gaza that reportedly murdered some 30 additional people, including a number of children, once again show that the so-called “ceasefire” is a myth that Israel uses to continue its genocide and ethnic cleansing.

CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.

La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
