The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today said Israeli attacks in Gaza that reportedly murdered some 30 people, including a number of children, once again show that the soc-called “ceasefire” is a myth that Israel uses to continue its genocide and ethnic cleansing.
According to Associated Press: “The casualties included two women and six children from two different families.”
Israeli attacks during the “ceasefire” have slaughtered more than 500 Palestinians.
In a statement, Washington, D.C.–based CAIR said:
“This massacre of Palestinian women and children exposes the cruel myth of a so-called ‘ceasefire’ in Gaza. A ceasefire that allows the slaughter of hundreds of civilians, many of them children, is no ceasefire at all. It is a lie used to mask ongoing genocide and ethnic cleansing. The world must stop accepting Israel’s empty words while Palestinian families are buried under rubble.”
CAIR said the continued killing of Palestinian civilians during the declared ceasefires demonstrates a pattern of impunity and underscores the urgent need for an immediate, permanent ceasefire, accountability under international law, and unrestricted humanitarian access to Gaza.
The civil rights organization also renewed its call for the U.S. and other governments to halt military support that enables further civilian deaths and to press for meaningful international action to protect Palestinian lives.
Last week, CAIR condemned the reported burning of three Palestinian villages in the illegally-occupied West Bank by illegal Israeli settlers.
Earlier this month, CAIR called on Congress to condemn Israel’s torture of prisoners and bulldozing and targeting of United Nations facilities serving Palestinian refugees in illegally-occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank, calling them a “continuation of ethnic cleansing” and flagrant violations of international law.
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
