The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today joined the US Council of Muslim Organizations (USCMO) in encouraging mosques across America to sign up to participate in National Open Mosque Day starting on May 3rd, 2026.
Mosques and Islamic centers seeking to participate in the event can fill out this form. Mosques can also use the USCMO Open Mosque Day Planning Guideto help plan their local event.
Starting on May 3, participating mosques and Islamic centers across the United States will invite and encourage their neighbors of all faiths and backgrounds to visit the house of worship, meet their Muslim neighbors, and engage in interfaith dialogue.
The theme for this year’s Open Mosque Day is “One Nation Under God,” emphasizing the importance of national unity based on shared values amid the challenges of political division, national unrest, and rising hate.
In a statement, USCMO Secretary General Oussama Jammal said:
“We urge all mosques and Islamic centers across the nation to participate in this beautiful and very necessary initiative. Our faith teaches us to welcome all to our mosques and to honor our neighbors. We invite members of all communities across our nation to visit our mosques and meet their Muslim neighbors.
“The theme of this year’s Open Mosque Day, One Nation Under God, emphasizes the important role of the American Muslim community and its connectedness to other communities of faith in our nation. The attempts to sow discord and hate in our society will never succeed as long as Americans of all faiths come together around our shared values of justice and service.”
