Join CAIR on May 23 Global Day of Action to Close Guantanamo and End Indefinite Detention

Guantanamo-not-another-dayCAIR, in partnership with the National Religious Campaign Against Torture, Amnesty International, Witness Against Torture, and ten other religious, human, and civil rights organizations, invites you to join communities across the U.S. and the world to urge President Obama and Congress to end indefinite detention and close the detention facility at Guantanamo.

The May 23 Global Day of Action to Close Guantanamo and End Indefinite Detention marks the one-year anniversary of President Obama promising to close the detention facility at Guantanamo. The president’s pledge came in response to the mass hunger strike by men protesting their indefinite detention and to the renewed, global condemnation of the prison. One year later, far too little has changed: few detained men have left the prison and hunger strikes and forced feeding continue.

The May 23 day of action includes a Friday rally in Washington, D.C. in front of the White House at 11 a.m.
