CANADIAN MUSLIM COMMUNITY SPEAKS OUT AGAINST VIOLENCE
The editorial, Muslim leaders can drown out violent message (SP, July 5), correctly argues that it is up to mainstream Muslim leaders to challenge and “drown out” the voices of extremism in our nation. Canadian Muslims are doing just that.
After the July 2005 transit bombings in London, England, the Canadian Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-CAN) and more than 120 Imams (prayer leaders) who represent the Muslim community from coast to coast issued an unequivocal denunciation of terrorism and extremism. (MORE)
