Dozens of community members attended a dinner promoting diversity. The Muslim Students’ Association of Michigan State University hosted the annual event. The lecture was by Dawud Walid, entitled “developing a Muslim American identity.”
Dawud Walid, Executive Director, CAIR: “Through the difficulties this community has been going through since 9/11, we have a peak interest in trying to cultivate more diversity amongst ourselves, as well as cultivating more diversity in doing more outreach to the community to dispel myths and misconceptions about Muslims.”
Organizers say their event illuminates the diverse nature of the Muslim community in greater Lansing and across America.
