A Jewish school’s plea to get basketball games rescheduled to times other than Saturdays has got backing from the most unlikely of sources. Civil-rights group the Council on American Islamic Relations has come to the defense of the Herz/Rocky Mountain Hebrew Academy in Denver, Colorado.
“Student athletes should not be forced to choose between their faith and participation in sports,” says an official at the group. The Hebrew Academy’s CEO, Avi Haizel, says that he appreciates the council’s support. Uniting against a common enemy is clearly the way forward.
