A vice president at the Navy Federal Credit Union says the institution will be apologizing in person to a Muslim member who was refused counter service for wearing a head-scarf as her religious beliefs require.
“We deeply regret this incident.” said Mary McDuffie, Vice President for Communications with Navy Federal. “Our security policy does allow for religious and cultural attire and the intent of our policy is to be able to clearly identify members that come into our branches for the security of our members and our employees.” . . .
Employees at the credit union branch in California , Maryland asked long-time customer Kenza Shelley to be served in a back room because her head scarf violated the institution’s “no hats, hoods or sunglasses” policy. (MORE)
