Yahya Wehelie is a 26-year-old American citizen, born in Fairfax to Somali parents. His two-month Middle East odyssey is finally over. He is back home now in Burke, Virginia, after his plane landed Saturday in New York City . . .
During the two months he was not allowed to leave Egypt because he was on the US no-fly list, he stayed in a cheap hotel in Cairo and ate fast food, using coupons provided by the US Embassy there.
Back in the United States, Muslim advocacy groups have been outraged. Ibrahim Hooper with the Council on American Islamic Relations said “barring American citizens from re-entering their country is a violation of their rights, a violation of due process.”
