Co-founder of Def Jam Recordings Russell Simmons and Rabbi Marc Schneier are hosting a panel on Muslim-Jewish relations this Monday.
The goal of the event is to “create a dialogue to build better relations between communities,” said Stern senior Eric Goldberg, who organized the event. The panel discussion will address the “challenges and complexities of the issues at hand” and “touch on” the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, he said.
Both Simmons and Schneier work at the Foundation for Ethnic Understanding. Schneier is the president, founder and director, while Simmons serves as the chairman of the board of directors.
In addition to Simmons and Schneier, Rabbi Yehuda Sarna of the Bronfman Center for Jewish Student Life, Islamic Center Chaplain Khalid Latif, and Imam Muhammed Shamsi Ali, will be part of the question-and-answer session.
The event is co-sponsored by Hillel, the Bronfman Center, the Islamic Center and the Middle East Dialogue group.
No tickets are necessary but RSVPs are required; the event will take place at Kimmel in room 914 and starts at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
