1,000 Turn Out for CAIR-MI Banquet

(SOUTHFIELD, MI, 4/7/08) – Almost 1,000 people turned out Saturday for the Michigan chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations’ (CAIR-MI) annual banquet in Dearborn, Mich.

Zarqa Nawaz, creator of Canada’s number one rated sitcom “Little Mosque on the Prairie” addressed the crowd as the keynote speaker.

CAIR, America’s largest Islamic civil liberties group, has 35 offices and chapters nationwide and in Canada. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
