400 Turn Out for CAIR-Cleveland Banquet

(CLEVELAND, OH, 4/28/08) – Almost 400 people turned out recently for CAIR-Cleveland’s sixth annual banquet.

At the banquet, constitutional scholar and civil rights activist Dr. Christopher Pyle delivered a keynote address on “Secret Government and the Rule of Law.”

Imam Johari Abdul Malik of the Dar Al-Hijrah Center in Washington, D.C., spoke about the challenges facing American Muslims and the need for perseverance in difficult times.

“The banquet was a valuable opportunity to showcase our work and to foster ties with the greater Cleveland community,” said Isam Zaiem, president of the Cleveland chapter of CAIR-Ohio.

CAIR, America’s largest Muslim civil liberties group, has 35 offices and chapters nationwide and in Canada. CAIR’s mission is to enhance understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
