The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today urged all Americans to call on their members of Congress to sign a petition demanding protection for reporters in Gaza threatened by Israel.
A recent tweet from the Israeli military publicly and falsely labeled six Al Jazeera journalists terrorists for their coverage in Gaza. This messaging poses a clear and present threat to the lives of remaining journalists and reporters in Gaza. The tweet is an open signal that the Israeli government plans to kill the few remaining Palestinians wearing a press vest in Gaza, and a preemptive attempt to justify the violent censorship of the press, all with American support. The petition below, created by Muslim, demands protection for journalists in Gaza.
In a statement, CAIR said:
“The Israeli government has brazenly murdered countless journalists in Gaza and now it is setting the stage to kill some of Gaza’s few surviving reporters. Before it’s too late, President Biden, Vice President Harris, and members of Congress must vocally demand that Netanyahu’s genocidal government leave these journalists alone, permit full media access to Gaza, and stop its war crimes.”
