CAIR ANNUAL REPORT NOW ONLINE
(WASHINGTON, D.C., 5/16/07) – CAIR’s 2006 annual report is now online. The report, called “Results that Speak for Themselves,” includes an outline of CAIR’s civil rights and advocacy work in the past year.
Initiatives detailed in the report include CAIR’s pro-active education response to the controversies over offensive cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad published in a Danish newspaper and Pope Benedict XVI’s remarks about Islam. CAIR’s “Explore the Life of Muhammad” campaign offered free books and DVDs about the Prophet to Americans of all faiths.
Other CAIR initiatives outline in the report include voter registration efforts for the November 2006 elections, leadership training for Muslim youth and campaigns to protect civil liberties and promote mutual understanding.
The report noted CAIR’s efforts to free an American journalist held hostage in Iraq and to end American support for Israeli attacks on Lebanon’s civilian infrastructure.
The activities of CAIR chapters nationwide and letters of support from members of the U.S. Congress are also included in the report.
