The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today applauded Lily Greenberg Call, an Interior Department official who resigned from her position over continued US support for the genocide in Gaza. Greenberg Call says that she is the first Jewish-American administration official to resign due to the genocide.
Lily Greenberg Call, who is the special assistant to the chief of staff in the Interior Department, has resigned from her position in protest of the Biden administration’s continued support for Israel’s genocide in Gaza. “Any system that requires the subjugation of one group over another is not only unjust, but unsafe. Jewish safety cannot — and will not — come at the expense of Palestinian freedom,” she wrote in her resignation letter.

In a statement, CAIR Deputy Director Edward Ahmed Mitchell said:
“We commend Ms. Call for her brave and principled stance opposing the Biden administration’s support for the genocide in Gaza. We encourage more officials to take inspiration from Ms. Call and others who have taken a stand and resign.”
