The Arizona chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-AZ), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned the display of a billboard promoting unsubstantiated, racist claims about Haitian immigrants.
A billboard targeting Haitian immigrants that reads “eat less kittens” was put up in Phoenix. The billboard is a reference to false claims that Haitian immigrants have eaten house pets in Springfield, Ohio. The city manager there has said that the city has not received any complaints about such incidents.

“We condemn this hateful billboard and urge the people of Arizona to come together and repudiate bigotry against any community, including Haitian-Americans and Haitian immigrants,” said CAIR-AZ Executive Director Azza Abuseif.
NOTE: As a 501(c)3 nonprofit, CAIR does not endorse or oppose candidates for office, and makes no claims as to the favorability of one candidate being elected over another.
CAIR has previously condemned racist incidents targeting Haitians. Yesterday, CAIR expressed solidarity with the Haitian community nationwide as it is being targeted by an online racist hate campaign.
