CAIR-AZ Condemns Vandalism Targeting Tucson Synagogue

The Arizona chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-AZ) today condemned vandalism targeting a synagogue in Tucscon.

“End Apartheid Abolish Israel” was reportedly discovered painted on Chabad-Tucson Young Israel Congregation Tuesday morning. Tucson police are investigating the vandalism as a hate crime.

In a statement, CAIR-AZ Executive Director Azza Abuseif said:

“We condemn this act of vandalism targeting a house of worship and express our solidarity with the Arizona Jewish community. No faith community should face such inexcusable harassment or intimidation.”

She noted that earlier this year, CAIR-AZ welcomed the sentencing of a man to 36 years in prison for the bias-motivated arson of two churches in Douglas, Arizona

Abuseif urged houses of worship to utilize CAIR’s Best Practices for Mosque and Community Safety guide, which contains security advice applicable to institutions of all faiths.
