The Arizona chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed the firing of Professor Jonathan Yudelman from Arizona State University (ASU) for allegedly harassing and assaulting a Muslim woman in a hijab during his participation in a pro-Israel protest near campus. CAIR-AZ also called on law enforcement authorities to arrest him.
Yudelman was fired after allegedly subjecting a Muslim woman to derogatory remarks and harassment during his participation in a pro-Israel protest near campus.
In a statement, CAIR-AZ Executive Director Azza Abuseif said:
“We thank ASU for terminating Mr. Yudelman and urge law enforcement to place him under arrest for his alleged harassment of a Muslim woman. In recent months, we’ve seen a surge in intimidation and attacks targeting Muslims and others who are standing up to oppose the Israeli government’s genocide of the Palestinian people and our government’s complicity in it. Law enforcement should make it clear that such intimidation and attacks will not be tolerated.”
She noted that CAIR-AZ previously called for Yudelman’s arrest and termination.
