The Arizona chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-AZ), a chapter of the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed the indictment of a man who allegedly planned a mass shooting targeting African Americans and other minorities at a rap concert in Atlanta.
The man was indicted by a federal grand jury Tuesday on charges of firearms trafficking, transfer of a firearm for use in a hate crime and possession of an unregistered firearm. The man reportedly aimed to target Blacks, Jews or Muslims, according to the affidavit.

“We thank law enforcement authorities for their swift action in apprehending a suspect in this deeply disturbing case, which again demonstrates the need to push back against growing bigotry targeting minority communities nationwide,” said CAIR-AZ Executive Director Azza Abuseif.
She added that CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
