The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, and its Minnesota chapter (CAIR-MN) today offered condolences to the families and other loved ones of the children killed or injured in the terror attack on Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
In a statement, CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad said:
“To God we belong, and to God we return. We join the Minneapolis Muslim community in extending our condolences to the victims of the attack on Annunciation Catholic Church. May God heal those injured and comfort the families of those who were killed.
“We are aware that the hateful individual who perpetrated this attack was reportedly a bigot inspired by others acts of horrific violence, including mass shootings by anti-Muslim extremists Anders Brevik and Brenton Tarrant.
“Opening fire on children in a house of worship is one of the most evil and cowardly crimes anyone could commit, and the hatred that has led to such massacres again and again, both here and abroad, must end.”
In a statement last night, CAIR-MN Executive Director Jaylani Hussein said: “We are all protectors of each other. When they come for one of us, they come for all of us.”
