“We are very saddened to hear of the shooting in Uvalde that has left 14 students and one teacher dead. We offer our heartfelt condolences to the Uvalde community and all those affected by this senseless tragedy,” said CAIR San Antonio Board Chair Sarwat Husain. “I encourage everyone in San Antonio to please donate blood at your local blood bank so that those injured in this horrific attack can be treated and healed.”
In a statement, CAIR National Deputy Director Edward Ahmed Mitchell said:
“We are appalled by news of yet another mass shooting, this time in Uvalde, Texas. May God heal those injured, comfort the families of those killed, grant those innocent children Paradise, and protect our society from this evil. This violence is not normal. This is not acceptable. This must stop. Our nation’s leaders must move beyond words to take concrete actions that can stop this violence.”
Earlier this month, CAIR similarly condemned the racially-motivated mass killing at a supermarket in Buffalo, N.Y., carried out by an avowed white supremacist gunman.
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
