UN warning comes as former top Israeli military official says a ‘sane country does not wage war against civilians, does not kill babies as a pastime.”
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today called on the Trump administration and the world community to take immediate action after the UN’s humanitarian chief Tom Fletcher warned that 14,000 babies in Gaza are at risk of death due to Israel’s campaign of forced starvation.

That warning came as a former senior Israeli military official said Israel risked becoming “a pariah state” over its war crimes in Gaza. Yair Golan, former deputy chief of staff of the Israeli army, said: “A sane country does not wage war against civilians, does not kill babies as a pastime, and does not engage in mass population displacement.”

The U.K. has also halted trade talks with Israel over Gaza war crimes and settler violence in the occupied West Bank.
Israel has slaughtered more than 53,000 people in Gaza, mostly women and children.
In a statement, CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad said:
“The Trump administration and the world community must take immediate action to save the lives of the thousands of Palestinian babies, women, children, the sick, and the elderly, at risk of malnutrition and death under Israel’s campaign of forced starvation in Gaza. It is way past time for an end to Israel’s genocide, and for an end to our government’s complicity with that genocide.
“President Trump must not let himself go down in history as the second U.S. president in recent decades to enable the starvation of a people. He can and must stop it.”
Yesterday, CAIR condemned Israel’s plan to allow only nine aid trucks into Gaza as a “completely insufficient, psychotic PR stunt” and commended Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) for his consistent “moral clarity” after recognizing that the United States is complicit in the starvation of the people of Gaza.
CAIR also condemned the inaction of world leaders as Israel steps up its genocidal campaign of mass slaughter and starvation in Gaza.
On Friday, CAIR called on President Trump to address and renounce an “insane” plan to ethnically-cleanse Gaza and force its population to Libya as reported in national media.
Washington, D.C., based CAIR also said it is “now or never” for elected officials to speak out against Israel’s clear genocidal plan to “flatten and occupy” Gaza and finish the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people.
Last week, CAIR condemned the Israeli slaughter of more than 100 Palestinians on the day marking the 77th anniversary of the Nakba (May 15), during which Israeli forces carried out the ethnic cleansing of most of Palestine in 1948.
