CAIR Calls Israeli Military Burning Children Alive a ‘Stain on Humanity’

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today said Israel’s burning alive and forced starvation of children in Gaza is a “stain on humanity that will haunt generations to come.”

Israeli strikes slaughtered entire families, including many children who were burned alive in their tents. A family of 10 was among the dozens of civilians killed in overnight Israeli airstrikes. NOTE: Israelis posted messages online mocking the burning of children.

Israel’s slaughter of children comes as the far-right government of indicted war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu implements a strategy of forced starvation of the entire civilian population in Gaza.

For the past six week, Israel has blocked all humanitarian aid, including food and medical supplies, from entering Gaza. As a result of this forced starvation, thousands of children are malnourished. Associated Press reports: “In March, more than 3,600 children were newly admitted for treatment for acute malnutrition.”

In a statement, CAIR said:

“The images of the Israeli military burning children alive in their tents after they were ethnically cleansed from their homes and starved for weeks is a stain on humanity that will haunt generations to come. Is it also a stain on our nation’s history that our own government is complicit with these crimes against humanity.”

Yesterday, CAIR called on U.S. and international media to finally speak out against Israel’s intentional targeting of journalists in Gaza after a Palestinian journalist and 10 members of her family were slaughtered in an Israeli air strike.

That attack came as Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) says Gaza has become a “mass grave” for Palestinians and those helping them. An investigation by Al Jazeera has also documented Israel’s war crimes in Gaza.

CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.

La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
