The Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, is encouraging all eligible Muslim voters in Virginia to Vote TODAY in the Virginia Primary Election. If you’re not registered, same-day registration is available at your precinct’s polling place on primary day.
One of Virginia’s two seats in the Senate, and all 11 House of Representatives seats are on the ballot on Nov. 5, 2024. Primary elections for those seats will be held TODAY.

“We encourage all eligible Muslims voters in Virginia to register and take part in early voting,” said CAIR Government Affairs Department Coordinator Shafiquil Muhshna. “It is crucial that our community makes its voice heard this year. By actively engaging in the democratic process, we can ensure that the issues that matter most to us are addressed and that our voices contribute to the shaping of Virginia’s future. This election holds great importance for our community, Now, more than ever, it is essential for Muslim Virginian voters to exercise their right to vote and make an impact.”
Voting in person: Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18. Anyone in line by 7 p.m. will be able to vote.

Mail-in voting: If you have a mail-in ballot, you can return it via mail or place it in a drop box.
If you are returning your ballot by mail, it must be postmarked on or before Tuesday, June 18, and received by your general registrar’s office by noon on the third day following the election.
*Note that putting your ballot in a mailbox on primary day doesn’t necessarily mean it will be postmarked that same day.

Please note that Virginia law permits you to vote in only one political party primary election when multiple political party primary elections are held on the same day (Va Code § 24.2-530). Each primary election features a separate ballot listing different candidates, and you must indicate your choice of ballot.
