CAIR Calls on Biden Admin to Condemn Knesset Vote Rejecting Palestinian Statehood

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today called on the Biden administration to condemn a vote by the Israeli Knesset rejecting the possibility of Palestinian statehood.

Israel’s parliament, the Knesset, today voted overwhelmingly to reject the establishment of a Palestinian state. Of the 120-member legislative body, 68 voted in support of the resolution, which says a Palestinian state would “pose an existential danger to the State of Israel.”

In a statement, CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad said:

“The Israeli government is saying the quiet part out loud by making it abundantly clear that they do not recognize even the most basic rights of the Palestinian people and will never voluntarily allow the establishment of a Palestinian state. The intent of their brutal war in Gaza is nothing short of mass murder and then perpetual apartheid for any surviving Palestinian people from the river to the sea. The United States cannot continue funding this radical, openly racist and genocidal government. We urge President Biden to condemn the Israeli government’s declaration, suspend military aid, and take concrete steps to secure the Palestinian state that he claims to support.”

He noted that earlier today, CAIR said Israeli war crimes, act of genocide and human rights abuses are “becoming too numerous to document fully.”
