The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today called on the Biden administration to repudiate the Israeli government’s post-war plan for the de facto annexation of Gaza.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu revealed his post-war plan for the future of Gaza on Thursday. The plan states that Israel will continue its war until Hamas and Islamic Jihad are “dismantl[ed],” and Gaza will be administered by hand-picked local officials after the war is over, Israel will promote a “deradicalization plan” with the support of “Arab countries that have experience in promoting deradicalization.” No reconstruction will be allowed until the “deradicalization plan” has been completed.
The plan also gives the Israeli military the full right to intervene in Gaza and establish a security buffer zone on the Palestinian side of the border. The plan calls for the close of the border with Egypt and gives Israel control “over the entire area west of Jordan.” The plan rejects any international dictates regarding a permanent settlement with the Palestinians, and opposes the unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state.

What is Netanyahu’s post-war Gaza plan?
In a statement, CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad said:
“The Israeli government has just announced their plan to effectively annex and administer Gaza indefinitely. This is a complete rejection of the stated policy of the United States, and represents a slap in the face. President Biden can no longer allow the Israeli government to run roughshod over our government and continue its genocidal, expansionist campaign in Gaza. This madness must stop. Our government must demand an immediate ceasefire and an end to Israel’s expansionist efforts.”
He noted that Israel intends to advance plans for 3,000 new settler homes in the West Bank.

He also noted that yesterday, CAIR called on the Biden administration to condemn comments made by Israeli Minister of Social Equality & Women’s Advancement May Golan in which she said she is “personally proud of the ruins of Gaza, and that every baby, even 80 years from now, will tell their grandchildren what the Jews did.”
