CAIR Calls Trump’s ‘Went to a Mosque, Gonna Throw Some Rocks’ Video Anti-Muslim and Anti-Iranian Incitement

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today called President Trump’s post celebrating the U.S. bombing of Iran with a music video featuring the 1980s Islamophobic parody song “Bomb Iran” a dangerous form of anti-Muslim and anti-Iranian American incitement.

The Truth Social video glorifies violence against Muslims and Iranians, with lyrics that include:

  • “Went to a mosque, gonna throw some rocks…
  • “Old Uncle Sam’s getting pretty hot, time to turn Iran into a parking lot.”

Washington, D.C., based CAIR also called Trump’s embrace of anti-Islam extremist Geert Wilders unacceptable. Trump said today he was “not upset” by the anti-Islam views of Wilders, while meeting at the recent NATO summit.

CAIR also said President Trump’s remarks about Iranian “supercells,” a confused reference where Trump mixed up the term “sleeper cells” with a meteorological term for violent thunderstorms, risks inciting paranoia and violence against Iranian Americans

In a statement, CAIR Government Affairs Department Director Robert S. McCaw said:

“President Trump’s glorification of violence against Muslims and Iranians using a song about attacking mosques and turning Iran into a parking lot is a dangerous and bigoted act that risks inciting violence. So does embracing anti-Islam lunatic Geert Wilders and fearmongering about ‘supercells.’ All Americans must reject the bigotry expressed in this video and reaffirm respect for religious freedom and safety for everyone in our nation.”

McCaw noted that Trump also said today he was “not upset” by the anti-Islam views of Dutch far-right leader Geert Wilders, while meeting at the recent NATO summit.

On Saturday, CAIR condemned President Trump’s attack on Iran as an “illegal and unjustified act of war” that prioritizes the wishes of Benjamin Netanyahu over the American people and threatens to drag our nation into a wider war in the region.

This latest rhetoric comes amid rising anti-Muslim incidents across the country. CAIR has documented a significant spike in Islamophobia over the last two years.

In 2024, CAIR offices nationwide received a total of 8,658 complaints – the highest number ever recorded since the organization’s first civil rights report in 1996. This marks a 7.4 percent increase from the 8,061 complaints received in 2023, signaling a worsening climate of Islamophobia. Additional CAIR research has shown how this wave of dehumanizing bias has specifically impacted university students and employees.

According to CAIR’s 2025 civil rights report, “Unconstitutional Crackdowns,” the organization received 8,658 incoming complaints in 2024, marking the highest number of complaints CAIR has recorded since it began publishing civil rights data in 1996CAIR also found incidents targeting Islamic places of worship rose sharply, with 40 documented attacks or threats against mosques in 2024.
