CAIR Community Advisory: Syria and Yemen TPS Registration May Deadline Fast Approaching, Sudan and Somalia TPS Remains in Effect

(WASHINGTON, D.C., 4/23/20) – The Council on American Islamic-Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, is urging all Syrians and Yemenis in the United States who already have Temporary Protected Status (TPS) to re-register before their respective registration periods end in May.

The TPS re-registration period for Syrians ends May 18, 2021.Click here for more information.

TPS for Yemenis has been extended until September 3, 2021, and TPS for Syrians has been extended until September 30, 2021.

The registration period for Syrians who are applying for TPS for the first time ends on September 15, 2021.

In January, CAIR welcomed President Biden’s 18-month extension and re-designation TPS for Syrians living inside the United States.   

STATUS REMINDER FOR SUDAN AND SOMALIA TPS

TPS for those from Sudan remains in effect as long as preliminary injunction ordered by the U.S. Court of Appeals in Ramos, et al v. Nielsen, et al., No. 18-cv-01554 (N.D. Cal. Oct. 3, 2018) remains in effect. However, there are no new opportunities to register for TPS for the first time. Click here for more information
