(WASHINGTON, D.C., 2/17/2023) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned the distribution of white supremacist propaganda material in McLean, Va.
Fairfax County police say some 50 flyers promoting a white supremacist hate group were distributed in McLean on Thursday. At least one of the flyers sought to recruit for the “Loyal White Knights,” a branch of the white supremacist Ku Klux Klan. Police are investigating the flyers as a “bias incident,” which can be considered a violation of civil law.

“This type of white supremacist hate is becoming all too common nationwide and must be challenged by Americans of all faiths and backgrounds,” said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper. “Racism, white supremacy and other forms of bigotry must be repudiated whenever and wherever they appear in our society.”
He noted that last month, CAIR similarly condemned the distribution of white supremacist flyers in Loudoun County, Va.
Hooper said Washington, D.C., based CAIR has repeatedly condemned many similar incidents nationwide.
CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
